POP (Point of Purchase) Fuel Discount

POP Fuel Discount allows you to reward customers with discounts on fuel when they make a qualifying purchase. This makes it easy for you to reward your customers for behaviors that benefit you. Reward your cash customers, and watch your network fees go down. Increase sales in the store by tying snack sales to a discount on gas. Qualifying purchases can be at the pump or inside at the POS workstation. Behaviors you can reward:

  • Paying with a specific credit card type (including proprietary fleet cards)
  • Paying with a specific method of payment
  • Purchase of a particular PLU with or without a specific quantity defined (minimum = 1)
  • Minimum department purchase (dollar amount or volume)
  • Minimum purchase of dollar amount

When a qualifying purchase does not include fuel, the discount can be applied to a later purchase by giving the customer a “POP code.” In addition, Membership Cards can be used to qualify your customers at time of purchase. These cards can be swiped or scanned at the pump or inside at the POS workstation. Looking for a way to push your DCR customers inside to purchase high margin items? Use the coupon feature and issue coupons at the DCR or inside for qualifying purchases. Coupons must be redeemed at the POS workstation. Cashier and Summary Reports have been expanded to include POP Discount sections and a new POP Discount Report has been added. Programming POP discount is easy with the Sapphire solution. Automate discounts, create coupons for customers, or define qualifying purchases...it’s as easy as point and click on your Sapphire!

POP Fuel Discount functionality is available on select Ruby applications, all Sapphire applications, and all Topaz applications.

Mix and Match

Mix and Match functionality offers a discount when specified items are purchased. The cashier need not recognize the items, since your POS workstation keeps track. For example, let the customer purchase any sandwich, any side item, and any drink. If all three are purchased, a discount can automatically be applied. This can be used with a barcoded keytag card as well to give only your special shoppers the “sale of the week.”

Mix and Match is time dependent, with start and stop date and times. Reporting capabilities are available at the PLU level, which allows you to track how many of each item you’ve sold in your promotion. When you include those PLUs in the PLU tracking report, you can see which cashiers are selling mix and match deals. It’s a great way to entice cashiers to do some suggestive selling.

Combo

Combo works much like Mix and Match in that it is a special price for a combination of items, but it is assigned a specific key on the keyboard and must be recognized by a cashier at time of purchase. For example, you could run an “Early Bird” special for purchasing a newspaper and a large cup of coffee. The cashier would have to recognize the special and press the Early Bird key to give the customer the special price.
